Is it possible to connect a windows mobile device in a computer without Active Sync?
Meaning is it possible to treat it as a flash drive? Or removable disk? I’ll support answers that have anything to do with cracking it or changing the operating system around.

windows mobile 6.1 and later devices (touch pro and better) give you the option of connecting as a disk drive or active sync at the time you connect them. mine is connected to my office computer as we speak as a disk drive. active sync hasnt been installed on this computer.
